Guess Spring/Summer 2012 Footwear and Handbag Collection

There were so many great pieces at the Guess Spring/Summer 2012 preview that I had to do two posts; my first Guess Spring/Summer 2012 Collection post featured clothing, jewelry and watches, this one is all about shoes and handbags. For the footwear collection, Guess and Guess by Marciano featured lots of colors, color blocking and contrast color, mixed prints (love the snakeskin and denim print stiletto with the ankle buckle), and modern silhouettes

We see bold personality in the Guess handbag collection - lots of contrasting color. A favorite among several of the preview's attendees was the herringbone group (featured directly below) - I love the idea of using color contrast basket weave to create the herringbone effect.

Another favorite was the handbag group with contrast piping, we especially fell in love with the grey bowler with seafoam handles and piping. The hardware adds a bit of edge to this modern silhouette. Of course bold colors are continued on into the handbag collection - we see red, cobalt blue, coral, rich caramel, etc. Keep an eye out for these eye-catching accessories as they will be available in stores soon. I can't wait for spring.

Color, prints, relaxed modern silhouettes and a bit of structure all make an appearance in the Guess Spring 2012 Womenswear Collection. Saivana Spring 2012 Collection

During the warmer seasons, there is nothing I love more than wearing a beautiful, long ethereal dress. I feel quite enchanting and feminine when wearing these romantic dresses so discovering the exquisite looks from Saivana was a wonderful thrill. Not familiar with Saivana, you should be; they offer a beautiful, elegant collection that includes soft, comfortable and breezy silk and chiffon dresses, tunics, blouses and scarves - in other words, they offer romance for your wardrobe. For Spring 2012, Saivana offers a few playful prints, their signature embroidery, intricate beading, soft silhouettes and shape flattering fabrics in their very feminine collection. My absolute favorite is the Lace Pastiche Dress, a gorgeous semi-sheer all white beauty with a bodice trimmed with neutral fabric patches (I need this dress in my life).

Talbots Spring 2012 Collection

Like most of the shows I attended during fashion week, bright colors, florals and patterns are the main features of the very feminine Talbots Spring 2012. Mixing 60's silhouettes with modern appeal, Talbots delivers a youthful collection with many looks featuring whimsical personality

Claire Danes looked every bit the belle of the ball in a gorgeous black and white J. Mendel gown and a soft, swept-back chignon. Hairstylist, Peter Butler, created Danes' look by envisioning a modern-day Grace Kelly.

To Get The Look: The trick to creating a soft, flattering updo to is to first create a lot of volume. Butler used Wella Professionals Extra Volume Mousse on damp hair, then blow dryed it. Next, curl hair with a large barrel curling iron for extra volume, then pull hair back into a high pony and wrap it into a tight knot. (Danes' look was only secured with TWO hair pins!) One of my favorite looks from her collection was the below pintuck sheath dress (available in gold and charcoal) - whether it's on a mannequin or on a model, it looks very chic. The fit is just about perfect.

Winter is drying to oily and combination skin, so imagine what it does to my skintype. While most will be toasting in the New Year with champagne, I'm going against the standard and going for something a bit creamier. Something a bit more.....delicious and indulgent. That something is the milky smooth Qream with a Q, a delectably creamy liqueur developed in collaboration with Diageo and Grammy Award-winning musician, cultural ambassador and style visionary, Pharrell Williams.

The vision behind Qream is for women to “live deliciously” and always treat themselves like Queens - which is exactly what I plan to do. According to press information, every detail of Qream was crafted to celebrate women - from the elegant design of the bottle, inspired by royalty, to the delicious flavor and silky lightness of the liquid. “Qream was created for contemporary women who work hard and want to relax with friends at the end of the day,” says Williams. “I want them to reward themselves “deliciously.” Williams added, “Women make up half the population and Qream is about celebrating that power." Qream currently comes in two varieties, Strawberry Crème and Peach Crème. Both evoke the flavor of freshly picked strawberries and ripe vine peaches, combined with natural cream and vanilla bean essences to create light, silky, fruity flavors.

The peach flavor is frosty soft in appearance with a flavor of lightly decadent burst of fresh ripe peaches. The initial taste is delicately creamy, with peachy sweet top-notes balanced by exotic tropical fruit nectar, a silky cream texture and the brightness of premium vodka spirit, resulting in a clean, sublimely juicy cream finish.

The strawberry is rosy pink, opalescent in appearance with a lightly decadent flavor mélange of sweet berries that reminds you of melted strawberry ice cream on a hot day. The initial taste is of ripe, sweet strawberry and fresh cream, followed by light tropical notes, a silky texture and a touch of warmth from the premium vodka, resulting in a clean full bodied finish, with a whisper of vanilla.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

3 1/2oz.Strawberry Qream™
1/2oz.Godiva Chocolate Vodka
cocoa powder (optional)
1 Strawberry (optional)
Combine Strawberry Qream™ and vodka in an ice-filled shaker. Stir well.
Strain into a cocoa powder-rimmed martini glass. Garnish with a strawberry slice (optional).

Strawberry Shortcake

3oz.Strawberry Qream™
1/2oz.Navan vanilla stick (optional)
Get an ice-filled shaker. Add in the Navan, followed by the Strawberry Qream™. Stir well.
Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with vanilla stick (optional).

Peach Qobbler

2 1/2oz.Peach Qream™
1/2oz.Captain Morgan Silver Spiced Rum
1/4oz.amaretto liqueur
1 amaretto cookie, crushed in a plastic bag (optional)
1 peach
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Stir well.
Strain into a rocks glass (with ice), rimmed with amaretto cookie crumbs (optional).
Garnish with peach slices.

Peach Qream & Ginger

3 1/2oz.Peach Qream™
1/2oz.Stirrings Ginger liqueur
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Stir well.
Strain into a rocks glass (with ice). Garnish with strawberry slices.

BlackBerry's BBM Ugly Sweater Fan Night Party with Michael Strahan

Wearing some of the ugliest holiday sweaters they could find, BlackBerry fans came together for the ultimate holiday celebration of all things BlackBerry. Hosted by Michael Strahan, adoring fans and video game enthusiasts attended the BBM Ugly Sweater Fan Night at Aspen Social Club in NYC.

Guests test-drove Angry Birds 3 on the PlayBook and new BlackBerry 7 devices, created ugly holiday sweater avatars and snapped holiday pictures with friends in the photo booth.

The main event began when Michael Strahan challenged a few lucky fans to a friendly game of Madden ’12 on the BlackBerry PlayBook. The competition was tough, but Michael, sporting his white sweater with snowmen and stockings, offered fans tips on how to defeat the master in his own game.

It was non-stop hilarious commentary, tips and tricks from Michael Strahan as each fan tried their best to win.

Fans who attended the event scored their tickets to the party, BBM’ing gloves and a new BlackBerry Bold 9900 through an online contest hosted by BlackBerry. To win, they had to submit a BBM Ugly holiday sweater avatar and tell BlackBerry via Twitter what BlackBerry product is on their holiday wish list. 12 winners won an opportunity to join a BBM group conversation to chat personally with Michael Strahan via a Twitter contest where fans shared a time Michael Strahan made a "Bold" move on the field.

Throughout the evening, party guests nibbled on tray passed hors d’oeuvres and sipped spiked cider while postinf photos and documented all of the festivities via live Twitter feed, which was on display for BlackBerry fans at the event, and provided updates to those at home who weren’t able to join in on the action.
